About Ashley

Hello! I’m Ashley. I’m a 27 year old self-proclaimed “young professional”–and yes, I’m still trying to figure out what that means. I make my home in Austin, Texas, but I grew up in the countryside of Western Massachusetts.

Ashley as a Person: I’m drawn to things that inspire me and spark my creativity. I enjoy everything artistic and beautiful. In my spare time I perform in community theater, sing, occasionally try to teach myself guitar, write short fiction with elements of magical realism, volunteer for autism awareness (among other things if I can), and try to cook at least two new recipes a week.

I’ve traveled to a handful of cities in Europe and the US–all on my own dime by saving and doing it on a budget. I try to visit two new places a year if possible. I studied abroad in The Netherlands in college and have had the travel bug ever since.

Ashley as Young Professional: I am a graduate of Emerson College with a BFA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing and I currently am a Community Specialist at Small World Labs, a company that creates online social spaces for nonprofits.

I began teaching myself HTML at age ten, and the rest is pretty much history. Since then, this passion has expanded to the rapidly expanding world of online social media. I am well-versed in promotion via Facebook, Twitter, Blogging, Linkedin, and just about any new social media device that pops up. I’ve held internships with The Lisa Ekus Group, FamilyFun Magazine, Perseus Books, and Nicholas Brealey Publishing. I get asked what my “dream job” is a lot and though it changes just about every year. Something that makes a difference, where I can utilize my creativity, and travel as much as possible is probably the dream.

  1. Hi, Ashley
Congratulations on all that you’ve achieved in a short lifetime. This is Shannon Dowd’s mom. I remember you coming over the house in Hatfield and making jewelry with Shannon. How’s your Mom and brother doing? I can’t remember, was your brother in class with Shannon’s brothers, Aaron and Colin?
Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors! If you’re ever in the area, swing by Holyoke Community College where I’m Director of Alumni Relations. I would love to introduce you to our students.
    Stay wonderful!
